vMix

Capturing multiple angles to enhance data collection

vMix is a video recording, production, and mixing software that allows the user to capture multiple camera feeds at once and display them in the same video file.

We use vMix in the SPACE study so that coders can see both of the child's hands simultaneously. To use vMix, plug in both video cameras using the lab USB cables and open the icon on the lab desktop. You should see 2 side-by-side video feeds. If one or both of the feeds does not appear, your cameras are likely not plugged in correctly OR there may be a problem with the USBs. Check your cords and restart vMix.

Click the "Open" menu and select the preset for your study. Then, click the gear icon next to "Record" to name your video file before recording. You may also rename each video after recording by going through the desktop vMix videos folder, but it is less hassle to name them as you go. Click the record button to start your recording.

See the vMix website here, or the vMix users guide here for in-depth overviews of how to configure your vMix settings.
